Below is a selection of events going on in the capital throughout April.

London Marathon - 020 7620 4117 - www.london-marathon.co.uk Even if you do not know anyone who is taking part in the London Marathon it is a great family day out and the fun runners (who all run for charity) rely on the support of the crowds to help get them around the course. The course is over 26 miles from Blackheath to Buckingham Palace and you will find some form of entertainment most of the way round.

Kite Festival Even if you are not interested in kites this is a great event and makes for a lovely day out for all the family. The event takes place on Easter Sunday and Monday on the vast expanse that is Blackheath common.

Ideal Home Exhibition - 020 7373 8141 The Ideal Home Exhibition offers something for everyone, you will find new ideas for the home and the garden as well as new technological gadgets that you can see being demonstrated before you buy. You will also be able to walk around the purpose built houses to view new deigns.
