Trooping the Colour
- 020 7414 2479 Trooping of the Colour is a celebration
of the Queens Official Birthday and takes place on a Saturday early in June. The
Queen inspects the military who put on an elaborate display at Horse Guards Parade.
There is then a flypast by the RAF over Buckingham Palace at around 1pm.
Flower Festival - 020 7735 1518 This
flower festival takes part on the last week of June at Covent Garden. You will
find both modern and traditional flower displays for all types of gardens on show,
as well as exhibitions on the history of Covent Gardens former fruit and veg market.
A demonstration tent is also erected so that people can learn about garden design
and flower arranging.
Wimbledon
- 020 8944 1066 Wimbledon's
centre court is world famous and for the last two weeks in June the whole of London
goes tennis mad. Tickets are available on the day and discount tickets are available
for the afternoon session.
Greenwich
& Docklands International Festival - www.festival.org Running for about three weeks the Greenwich and Docklands
International Festival is a celebration for music, dance and theatre from around
the world. The festival usually starts at the end of June and events take place
around Greenwich and the Docklands area, it starts and finishes with spectacular
firework displays.
Royal
Ascot - 01344 622211 Royal
Ascot takes place over four days and is the most popular flat race meeting in
Britain. There are 15 races and a grand total of £2.5million to be won.
