is a selection of events going on in the capital throughout November.
Lord Mayor's Show - 020
7606 3030 The Lord Mayor's Show takes place on the second
Saturday of November as it has done since 1215. The show is to celebrate the new
Lord Mayor of London, the procession starts at Guildhall 11am and travels to the
Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand. The show includes floats, bands, over 6000
people and ends with a fireworks display over the Thames.
Bonfire
Night - 020 7971 0026 The 5th of November
sees the celebration of Guy Fawkes attempt to blow up Westminster and the monarch.
Events take place all over the capital starting a few weeks before the day, some
events are free, lists can be found in local papers.
London
Film Festival - 020 7928 3535 For two to three
weeks in early November the British Film Institute
show new and international films at a reduced price. Most films are shown around
the West End and at the National Film Theatre on the South Bank.
Remembrance
Sunday Ceremony On the first Sunday after the 11th
of November there is a ceremony to commemorate those people who gave their lives
for the country in both the First and Second World War. The Queen, the Prime Minister
and other Heads of State lay wreaths and observe a minute's silence at 11am.
