The Fan Museum was opened in 1991 and is the only museum in the world to be dedicated to fans and fan making. The fans on display date back to the 11th century and range from ceremonial fans to high status symbols fans. With about 3,500 antique fans on display from around the world the history of fans comes to life. The museum is housed in a building built in 1721 that has been authentically restored to retain their original character and elegance.
