Square is one of London's most famous tourist attractions, it is dominated by
Nelson who stands on a column above the square. It was built to commemorate Admiral
Nelson, who was killed during his victorious battle against Napoleon's navy off
Trafalgar in Spain 1805. The square is also famous for its resident pigeons who
are always more than happy to see tourists bearing food from the seed seller.
At Christmas it has become custom for Norway to send a huge Christmas tree as
a token of gratitude for Britain's help during the Second World War, it is also
at the heart of London's New Year Celebrations with people gathering there to
