With over 2,500 animals Whipsnade is one of the largest wildlife parks in Europe. Opened in 1932 and covering 600 acres the park is able to give its animals larger enclosures than most zoo's. Now owned by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) the park is devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. The zoo has a bus service and a narrow-gauge railway so that visitors can make the most of the enclosures.
