Black
Cabs
Black Cabs are the only taxi you can
hail from the street (though they now come in other colours
as well). With the "for hire" sign lit, the driver
is obliged to stop for you. Black
cabs are administered by the MET, so standards are high, drivers
must pass a stiff exam in the "Knowledge" of London
and are honour bound to take the shortest route. Black cabs
can be quite expensive though, especially after midnight and
if you get stuck in traffic as they run on meters.

for black cabs. Complaints or Inquires should be made to the
