Apsley House,
one of the finest residences in London, was the home to the
Duke of Wellington. It was designed by Robert Adam and built
between 1771 and 1778. Wellington's
military success brought him many impressive gifts from across
Europe received from grateful kings and emperors. The collection
contains works from Goya, Rubens, Ccorreggio, Brueghel, Steen,
de Hooch, Wilkie and Lawrence.
