Christamas in London 2005
This year as Christmas Day falls on a Sunday
Boxing Day (26th December) is a public holiday. Monday 2nd
of January is also a public holiday as it is the first weekday
following New Year. On 25th December the majority of restaurants,
shops and attractions do not open. However, some of London's
hotel restaurants are open for Christmas fare. You are strongly
advised to book your table in advance. There are no buses
or Tube services on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day December
26th sales start in some London shops including many of the
larger stores and those in the major shopping areas such as
Oxford Street.

lights switched on by Westlife
17th November - Covent Garden Market Christmas switch on.
29th November - Trafalgar Square Christmas tree will be lit
in a special free ceremony on with Carols.
3rd and 24th December at 5pm to 9pm - Carol Singing in Trafalgar
Square.
3rd December - Christmas Pudding Race at Covent Garden
24th December at 4pm - Christmas Service at Westminster Abbey

Somerset House Ice Wall.
New for 2005 - The Ice Wall: Eight metres of pure ice! A thrill
for beginners and a challenge for experience climbers. Each
session lasts 60 minutes which gives the participants coaching
and instruction on how to use the equipment and time for a
minimum of 2 climbs. Ticket Price £40 a session .

Funfair.
Christmas in Leicester Square means Bob Wilson brings his
funfair to town. With rides and attractions for all ages,
featuring white knuckle rides and old-fashioned carousel and
ghost train 12pm-12am.
29th to 30th November - Red Cross Christmas
Fair - Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street.
In its 11th year, the money raised will go to London Emergency
Response Appeal. This year George Alagiah will speak and offically
open the event. With over 70 stalls selling a massive variety
of clothes, gifts, food, jewellery and home accessories, this
is the place to do all your Christmas shopping under one roof.

12th to 21st December - Spitalfields Winter
Festival.
A programme of musical events and carol singing, just east
of the City. With kids from local schools getting involved,
this is a real community event so expect large, loyal crowds
and plenty of good cheer.
13th to 26th December - Satan’s Grotto
at the London Dungeon.
16th to 18th December - Frost Fair Festivities
on the South Bank.
The area will be filled with ice sculptures, stalls, music
and entertainment, and a 40m real ice slide!
